Design Feature: The Whitley II Floor Plan

You can read about home design or you can experience it by taking a walk through a professionally decorated model home. Our newest — located at 1906 Royal Oak Drive — is an exceptional display of how a floor plan, design choices and décor blend to deliver a dream home with no parallel. This is the first of three blog posts that will dive into the features of this amazing model home, possibly uncovering some ideas you can embrace the next time you build, remodel or decorate a home. First, we’ll explore our Whitley II floor plan.

Sophisticated Modern Farmhouse

“Modern farmhouse” is typically defined as contemporary meets rustic, but the Whitley II floor plan — showcased as our model home in Sienna — goes beyond that simple explanation. Rather, this home is a sophisticated spin on the modern farmhouse aesthetic. Metal roofing over windows are a nod to farmhouse style while black-framed windows offer contemporary sophistication.

Windows, Windows and More Windows

The Whitley II floor plan is packed with windows, starting with the stunning window atop the double glass front doors. Stacked windows grace the two-story family room and sliding glass doors at the breakfast area open to the veranda. Large windows in the primary suite frame a sitting area. Drapery complements the window groupings rather than blanketing the windows but can easily be closed in the bedrooms for privacy or darkness.

More Spa Than Bath

A home this luxurious is worthy of a resort spa, and the owner’s suite does not disappoint. Nearly as large as the bedroom (larger if you count the adjoining closet), the primary bath is an elegant retreat to start or end your day. Wall-to-wall custom cabinets house dual vanities separated by make-up counterspace. On the flip side is a standalone bath, flanked by doorless entries into J. Patrick Homes’ signature “car wash” shower.

Storage Galore

Another defining feature of the Whitley floor plan is the amount of storage found within the home. The long walk-in pantry with a glass door front easily stores foodstuff and kitchen appliances. Built-in shelving and cabinetry in the mud room, family room and media room enhance functionality and allow the home decorator to have fun. The primary closet is a stunner, with a gorgeous organization system and center island dresser.

Look Up, Way Up

Tall ceilings can be found throughout the home and — with those abundant windows — imbue the home with airiness and spaciousness. But in the family room, the ceiling isn’t simply “tall” — it soars to the second story creating a dramatic and beautiful space. The extended foyer is also open to the second story.

Room for Guests

This home is meant for entertaining — and hosting overnight guests. One of the four secondary bedrooms is located downstairs, a relief to those visitors who might prefer a first-floor guest suite such as grandparents or families with young children. It also has a private bath and is located at the front of the home away from the common areas, ensuring a good night’s rest. A second downstairs bedroom is one of our more popular floor plan features.

Entertain Al Fresco

The patio space on the Whitley II floor plan is immense, easily large enough to accommodate multiple seating areas, as shown in our model home in Sienna. Add in an outdoor kitchen and a fireplace and you have an outdoor entertainment area year-round. Host a more intimate gathering on the upstairs covered balcony located off of the game room, just one of the many structural options this floor plan offers.
