J. Patrick Homes has won two “Best of” trophies in the recent Texas Association of Builders Star Awards.
Recognizing the best not just in Texas, but in the Southwest region, the Star Awards is the grand finale to the annual Sunbelt Builders Show. During the ceremony, award-winning Houston home builder J. Patrick Homes was recognized for Best Semi-Custom Home (under $1.5 million) and Best Interior Merchandising (over $800,000).
A home built in Sienna in Missouri City for a private homeowner won top honors in its price range for Best Semi-Custom Home. This fantastic 6,025-square-foot Balmoral plan features five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half baths, as well as a media room, game room, formal dining room and study.
Adding numerous customizations to the standard floor plan make this home truly one-of-a-kind and is a true example of our “power to personalize.” Already a generous size, we enhanced the kitchen by enlarging the kitchen island and adding more cabinets. The homeowners also wanted an extended game room — which we accomplished by incorporating what would have been balcony space — and a larger vanity in the primary bath. Replacing windows in the family room and breakfast room with sliding glass doors gives easy access to outdoor living on the spacious patio.
Transforming the butler’s pantry into a wine and beverage room with custom cabinets and a wine cooler resulted in a wow-factor feature that guests will want to replicate in their own homes. Another customization was replacing the curved staircase with a stairway having a more angular design.

The home’s black exterior hints to the elegant design found inside, with black hues paired with Snowbound White walls and warm wood tones throughout. Design features such as the black floor-to-ceiling shiplap fireplace surround, curtains that float from ceiling to the floor, and large lighting fixtures elevate the tall — at times two-story — ceilings. Throughout the home, alder cabinets are complemented by wood ceiling beams and furniture, and the cream-brown-black color scheme is reflected in the furniture, bedding, and artwork choices. Matte black appliances and brushed gold hardware are kitchen standouts. Playful flooring in the utility room, 1-inch by 24-inch horizontal tile in a secondary bath, and a showstopper metallic tile wall in the primary bath all help make the design exceptional.
This stunning home was a finalist in two other categories, as well — Best Product Design ($800,000-$975,000) and Specialty Room (under $1 million) for its upstairs study.
